GIBRALTAR

time to time, the English were startled us with the " provocations" by the British in the waters of the Bay of Algeciras and the port of " Gibraltar." Sometimes they are entries to repair nuclear submarines or carry over and rest allowances, other times they are harassing the Civil Guard patrol boats and other times ... anything ever bothers us and the media pressure the English government Time to take any action against these ongoing " abuse."

I will not bore you about the rights that Spain has over the last colony that Britain is in Europe, they are light and airy since 1968 the UN General Assembly Assembly adopted a resolution which required the UK to end the "colonial situation " Gibraltar before October 1969. The contempt for the British to this resolution is worthy of inclusion, and does, in books on international law.

From an Anglo-Dutch fleet took the rock in the name of Archduke Charles in the succession war against it would be held after Felipe V, Spain has used both diplomatic and military means to try to recover. Unfortunately, neither method has worked, and the British over the years, taking advantage of the comparatively " disproportionate military power" and "political influence " have increased the territory, land and sea, initially Spain was forced, as impotence to compromise on the Treaty of Utrecht.

A case that starts with some parallels to that of Gibraltar is the Hong Kong . The island was occupied by the United Kingdom in 1841 during the First Opium War and, using China's military weakness, forced his Government by the Treaty of Nanjing, a cedérsela in perpetuity. Later, after the Second Opium War in 1898, the British territory significantly increased by adding to the island, the peninsula adjacent and other nearby islands, returning to compel the Chinese to sign a new treaty that ceded their new realms for 99 years, ie until 1997.

Britain course, like any self-respecting colonial power, never thought of returning the territories expanded, but as the years passed, China was becoming a powerful country and claims on this colony as a fundamental part of their nation were increasing before the British inaction of any change of status. But the situation took a turn when in 1964 the Chinese detonated their own atomic bomb and Britain for the first time was aware that this already were not the people who were forced to sign the shameful Treaty of Nanking.

In view of the new strategic scenario the British did not remain idle or inactive. Responded in the same way as they have in Gibraltar, began to grant rights to the inhabitants of these territories were given the opportunity to choose a parliament and the drafting of a constitution. The idea was clear, hindering the return to China in the territories obtained after the Second Opium War on the grounds that its inhabitants had expressed in a referendum their wish not to join the communist country then tried to representatives of the island to participate in tripartite talks , but the Chinese, far more cunning than the English, flatly refused. Britain finally launched an attempt to give them the independence and integration into the Commonwealth, all but return it to its rightful owners . Sovereignty over the island or even spoken since, in good faith, theirs permanently.

But the Chinese began to lose patience and, aware of his real power, threatened the United Kingdom more than words at the United Nations, were willing to a nuclear órdago if the British did not return their territory, including also the island of Hong Kong, on the scheduled date of 1997. Things, for the first time, did not look good for the Government of Her Britannic Majesty.

Recognizing the new reality, in 1984 Margaret Thatcher and Deng Xiaoping signed an agreement whereby the entire territory of Hong Kong under British colonial rule, would pass to China on 1 July 1997, as it has. Hundred fifty-five years did the occupation and only a órdago could not be accepted over the situation. For purists will make clear that Hong Kong residents now enjoy some autonomy to the mainland Chinese, but ... not for long.

Gibraltar's case is, as I said, some initial similarities. First, they conquered by force, second, forced Spain to sign a treaty to which it was unable to refuse to cede this territory permanently, and over the years has increased due its overwhelming military power.

Nobody takes deceit Gibraltar never be returned to Spain if not by the method of "Chinese Órdago." Everything else is cheap philosophies that do not lead only to frustration of the English people and their governments. Does anyone believe that the U.S. Guantanamo base if Cuba would be nuclear power becomes available?

The Rock will still be used by the British for ever and ever for many reasons give us our demands on international bodies. Yes well, the Government silent about the abuses British, well ... we make it easier.
